Back On The Chain Gang

THE POWERS THAT BE
THAT FORCE US TO LIVE LIKE WE DO
BRING ME TO MY KNEES
WHEN I SEE WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO YOU

Well, the new year has started and I'm back at it... living large for the greater part of my life at 55 Hawthorne Street.

That just hit me - I spend most of my awake hours at work... and that to the right is the view I see as the bus pulls up to my stop in the morning.

One could get the feeling from this blog that I am vying for an iPod.. with subliminal hints throughout - more on that later.

And this is the view of my bus, heading for the Golden Gate terminal at 8th street...

As you can see, it was a cloudy sky - a beautiful sunrise which I did not take any pictures of... might not have even showed up knowing the limitations of my camera.

But upon leaving work, the city lights reflected off the pavement that had been freshly awash in yet another Winter rain.

We had some serious flooding in Marin - reminded me of the flooding in 1982.. I've got a great story about that period in my life, but that is not what this blog is about.

Ask me and I'll tell it to you.

I did happen upon this billboard on my way to the bus stop heading home.. advertising a new line of skin color I believe, "Sickly Green".

"Get that 'Too much Party' look without the hangover. Sickly Green."

I like the subtly of a woman collapsed on a dance floor under a giant disco ball.. and at a bargain price of $24.90 - how can one pass that up?

And here is an often seen look in the SF Bay Area: The white pods in the ear which bear witness to yet another person who has saved the career of Mr. Jobs by purchasing Apple's main product. Hmmm, that last sentence seems to bear a bit of the old "green with envy", yes?

Perhaps I do want one.

Lastly, I stopped by our organic farming co-op to pick up our box of fruits and vegetables.

The peace sign that opens this post was created from a shot I took of lights on the roof of the home where the pick-up takes place.

I've a wonderful family, a job I enjoy... and a certain, gnawing emptiness which I am unable to grok completely and therefore know not the solution to fill it from.. with?

I don't know... who am I? :-)
